✔ It involves a specific type of contact between the psychotherapist and the patient and the use of certain tools and techniques available to psychologists.
✔ The change brought about by the therapy may help mitigate or even eliminate a particular psychological disorder. As a patient, you may be able to cope with you problems more effectively and be encouraged to work on his/her personal development and to get an insight into yourself.
✔ The psychotherapy is usually preceded by one or two meetings with a psychologist to identify your problem(s). During the following meetings, the psychologist will ask you questions about your life so far as well as events and experiences of significance for the therapy (2-3 meetings). The final stage is a therapeutic contract between the therapist and the patient. It will contain details such as the duration of the therapy, the methods to be used, as well as the expectations of both the therapist and the patient, and the objectives of the therapy.
✔ The full course of psychotherapy will normally last one year, although some patients may require many years of therapy. The length of the process will normally depend on the severity of the patient’s problem.

Within this context, art is not used as diagnostic tool but as a medium to address mental health issues which may be confusing and distressing.

Art therapists work with children, young people, adults and the elderly. Clients may have a wide range of difficulties, disabilities or diagnoses. These include emotional, behavioural or mental health problems, learning or physical disabilities, life-limiting conditions, neurological conditions and physical illnesses.

Art Therapy is a non-directive and client centered approach. Clients do not need to have any art experience so this intervention can be accessed by anyone. Sessions take up to an hour and the course of treatment depends on individual needs of each clients. Those are assessed during initial assessment and regularly reviewed throughout intervention.

EMDR - Eye Movement Desentisation Reprocessing Therapy

EMDR therapy is an integrative psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma, anxiety, panic, disturbing memories, post traumatic stress and many other emotional problems. EMDR is a set of standardized protocols that incorporates elements from many different treatment approaches. It uses bilateral stimulation, right/left eye movement, or tactile stimulation, which repeatedly activates the opposite sides of the brain, releasing emotional experiences that are "trapped" in the nervous system. This assists the neurophysiological system to free itself of blockages and reconnect itself.

As troubling images and feelings are processed by the brain via the eye-movement patterns of EMDR, resolution of the issues and a more peaceful state are achieved.
EMDR is the most effective and rapid method for healing PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) as shown by extensive scientific research studies.
There are a number factors to consider when evaluating the appropriateness of EMDR therapy for a client's particular situation and history. During your initial consultation with a trained EMDR therapist, all the relevant factors will be discussed in full to help you both come to a decision to move forward with EMDR.

Sessions are up to an hour and the course of treatment depends on the severity of presenting issues and personal goals of each client.
